Sunflower greetings

Sunflowers are in season, so I was overjoyed to find a challenge for yellow flowers. I paired it with a sketch, the call for making it tone on tone, And, I could use my pretty papers.

The supplies were rather simple, dies and papers and some Perfect pearls. Later I added some glittery stones as I don't have enamel dots (which were called for in one challenge).

I die cut the sunflower out of design paper and laid it over another. I made an underlay for the flower out of a yellow tissue paper so it would stand out better. I was working with a sketch so added the an outer and inner frame. The orientation was flipped, I thought my card made more sense as a horizontal.

Mixed media for Christmas

Today I wanted to play with acrylics and metallic flakes. I have a set of mixed metals, gold, silver, brass and bronze. Back when I purchased it, seven years ago, I thought I would just pick my metals, but it is not that easy. These metal flakes are small and have static,, they cling everywhere they are not supposed to. Anyway, I made two backgrounds, a pink and a pale turq.

I was inspired to pull out my old rubber stamps with musical notes. I purchased them as long ago as 2007 from Above the Mark.  I used two die cut snowflakes, a golden one in the back and the one cut from my gold flake card stock in front. I also used a Altenew circles border stencil for the side strips.

It's peony time

I love peonies. Their appearance is a conundrum: they are large, voluptuous even, but manage to look dainty and sweet. They last only for a few days in the vase and not much longer in the garden - where they are in mid bloom right now. I

have several peony stamps, but selected one from Creative-Depot this time. (I'm not affiliated, the link is for you in case you are interested.)

I have a strange fascination with large background stamps that are actually just blank. Today was the day to take them all out, as I got inspired by a layout where they fit perfectly.

I stamped the peony twice, with brown ink, as I wanted to use part of the second flower to raise some petals. The sentiment is die cut from brown card stock (paint chips actually - very handy for these purposes.)

The finished card:
