An Inspiration to the Simple Life

The title is a quote from an ancient TH sheet. It seemed so apt for today's card.  A few challenges led my thoughts to my summers and summer vacations. The most fun was to stay on a farm and observe the garden and its inhabitants. The birds, the squirrels, the hedgehogs. We put watered milk out for them.

The supplies were many this time: two stamp sets, two die sets and an embossing folder.

I started by embossing the background, then stamping the hedgehog and the tree. The hedgehog is layered and heat embossed. The flowers were cut from scrap paper and assembled.

The card will go to a friend who is thinking of quitting a city job.

I am entering it in these lovely challenges that inspired me today:

As You Like It: Favorite pet (and why) I always wished I could have a hedgehog, they look so soft and cuddly (but of course they are not)

Can You Handle the Pressure: AG, Stars and/or stripes optional - I selected stripes

Nachteulen /  Night Owls: # NSS 63 Urlaub - meine Ferien sind an einem Bauernhof

Creative Knockouts: #575 Outdoor fun

Everything will be good

Rainbows were used as a symbol for hope in the Covid times. (Remember?) Back then I found it kitschy , but today it feels less so and I have quite come to like it. I even have a miniature rainbow die set. Add that to a new stamp set that I bought in a local 'everything' store and my brain started to jump from idea to idea. I also have a sentiment "everything will be allright" that I thought was fitting.

This is a simple one layer card. The rainbow was fiddly to assemble and doesn't align right. A sequin or two might remedy the situation, but we'll see about it. For now it stays as is.

Entering it in these challenges that I took inspiration and guidance from:

CAS on Friday: #335 Rainbows

Nachteulen / Nightowls: NSS #61 Clean and simple

Let's Craft and Create: #232 Penny for your thoughts (use a sentiment)

Moving along with the Times: #190: Use your favorite stamp or die - All my stash is my favorite, but this new set is my Newest favorite

and because the stamp set with the girls is a new and never before used 'stuff' I am showing my card here as well:

Sweet spring

I was inspired to show my favorite color which is pink. Anything pink will do. If, like today, pink is playing the lead role the results are overly sweet. The sweetness may be even underlined by the fact that I used neon watercolors from the 90's (a great thrift store find).

Pink combines well with green, and i do like the two together, it is a very natural combination. To that end I underlaid the sweetness with craft paper which was stenciled with a lightly shimmering paste.
