 A tag using book paper for the background. I just lightly dabbed it with white distress ink in order to mnake the color pop better.

Washi galore

 I love washi and own several. For this lovely challenge over at Simon Says I selected a few different ones. I aimed to make a group of three Skinny-sized cards.

 

 

I selected red, black and mint green as my colors, but each card got their own. Here, for example, I only used the two black-and-white ones.

 Retro Rubber Challenge has a tic-tac-toe this week.

 I chose the line "Mechanical - wood - twine". I started by stamping with all the gear stamps I own - there are several! Some of my very foirst were purchased 2007 and are by Make the Mark. Later I acquired Tim Holtz blueprint gears and a one was part of a set by paperartsy (if I remember correctly). I haven't bought any new stamps for a year or longer, so all these are quite ancient.

I printed gears all over kraft tissue in vintage sepia. I also printed two others on kraft cardstock that I then cut out. The mechanical insides of a watch (Above the Mark, 2007) were printed once, the watch itself (Carabelle studio, 2019) was printed twice for a darker inpression.

 

I added twine and hand stamped a wooden popsicle stick with the sentiment "It is time to..."

What matters

There is a lovely inspiration: Time has a wonderful way of showing what really matters. It's open to so many interpretations and the one I chose is Confidence. Confidence is something you acquire with time, as you grow and form and sort your experiences.

There was an exercise my yoga teacher used to make us do, sat nam - truth is your name. Repeating those words along with a certain breathing exercise made it sink in to this day. 

I added a tea leaves sentiment to echo it: Recognize that you are the truth.

Aviation

 The colors red, white and blue call aviation to mind. This is what I had on hand: a dapper, courteous crew, some destinations tags and an air mail stamp.

B is for butterfly

 I was inspired to stamp on different types of paper. They give the image some interest and texture.

I used several papers and stamps by Dina Wakeley (the girl). Stampers anonymous (butterfly) and tulip by Tin Can Mail. That one is ancient, but I love it to bits. Part of the background is a dictionary page that was used in gelli plate printing, but I also used 'store-bought' papers there to get a nice flow.

Mini challenge

 Taking part in More than Words mini challenge June. The word 'idol' has to appear on the atc.

 

In case you're wondering... Frida (or her lookalike) has been heavily photoshopped for luminosity. She was part of a digitally made collage that was printed and which I received as happy mail not long ago. I took it apart, added TimHoltz rose themed paper to the background, a stamped bird, a red rose for her head (in the collage there were black roses and skulls) and lastly the golden glittery glue dots for earrings.

Tell your story

A real photo of a long forgotten someone... I have no idea where it came from, I probably purchased it at a fleamarket as I often so.

Now it was time to let her shine a moment in the limelight. The background was first watercolored, then stamped with ancient writing. I added the sentiment 'tell your story' which seemed apt.

An old airmail envelope was used as the background for this tag.Onto it I added postage stamps and ephemera and a second tag as well as the text that I found in a book.

Simon Says Wednesday challenge: Red white and/or blue

Red white and blue

 Vacation time is upon us. Red, white and blue give this carefree, breezy summer feel.

I made a skinny-sized card (5" by 3") using a mix of elements: some stamping, a magazine cut-out, paper piecing and inks for the background and found a Tim Holtz saying that fits to a tee.

Celebrate

 Country View Challenges is celebrating its 100th challenge.

I am participating with this Skinny-sized card (5" by 3"). I was inspired by Corrie's beautiful background. I used a TH numbers stencil, but my numbers did not show as clearly, for whatever reason. So I added the number 100 with rub-on numbers.

Tänään inspiroiduin Jehkottaren haasteesta. Valitsin bingorivin puuleike muotona-harmaa-sanaleike, lähinnä koska se oli minulle todellinen haaste. Minulla on puuleikkeitä, mutten oikein osaa käyttää niitä, samoin sanaleikkeitä (ja sitten aina kumminkin leikkelen sanat vanhoista kirjoista). Ja harmaakin väri, hmmm.

Omistan kaksi harmaata akryylimaalia, hiukan sinivoittoisen Paynes Gray'n ja ruman perusvaalean. Lisäksi valitsin pyöreät puuleikkeet ja tummanharmaata hilettä. Suunnittelin nimittäin alkuun tekeväni harmaansateisen joulun ja nämä pyöreät muodot olisi olleet katukaivojen kansia.

Sekoitin molempia harmaita yhteen. Taustapahvini olivat ruskeita, joten se vaikutti lopputulokseen. Molempia oli hiukan leimattu etukäteen, nämä siis olivat kauan laatikossa pyörineitä hylkiöitä joita en tietenkään raatsinut ikinä heittää pois.

Puukuvioihin ripottelin lopuksi tummia hileitä ja kiinnitin ne mod podgella.

Kuviot ja tekstileikkeet pääsivät vihdoin käyttöön nekin. Täytyy sanoa, että harmaa on oikein elegantti ja hienostuneesti surullinen väri joka tuo tunnelmaa. Kiitos haasteesta!

KKvintagehaaste avautui juuri aiheella Unelmia. Inspiraationa siihen nämä toisenlaisesta elämästä unelmoivat tytöt.

Kukka ja kirjoitusta

KK vintage-haaste aukeaa jälleen tänään ja kortista pitäisi löytyä sekä kukka että kirjoitusta.
Minulla oli kaunis, mutta leveä kukkakuva - niinpä teinkin saman tien kolmen kortin sarjan.

Korteissa on kukkien lisäksi paljon muitakin yhdistäviä tekijöitä, kuten perhonen.

Mutta myös taustalla käytetty kirjansivupaperi, vaaleanpunaiset rinkulat ja pinkki silkkipaperi, sekä stanssatut lehdykät.  Ja tietenkin tekstit.

These flowers are so very spring - and oh so girly, which is why I am entering this into Simon Says Monday challenge: Feminine/ girly.

Pahansuisia kaloja

Jehkottaren haasteeseen tein bingorivistä 'pahvi - metallivaha - musta gesso' tällaisen korttiparin.

Tausta on revittyä, mustalla gessolla maalattua aaltopahvia, jota hieroin Nuvon vihreällä metallivahalla.

KKvintage #100

Neljän ruudun bingo! Luulisi neljännen ruudun kovastikin hankaloittavan tekemistä, mutta yllättävää kyllä,  ylimääräinen ruutu olikin helpottavaa. Innostuin lopuksi ruudukosta niin, että tein lähes kaikista riveistä kortit. Tässä esittelen kolme tyyliltään ja väreiltään kokonaan erilaista.

Tämä on tehty rivillä blingiä - pitsiä - vihreä - ihminen. Pitsi on kakkupaperin reunaa, erikoisen muotoiset paljetit kimaltelevat tähtinä taivaalla.

Seuraavaksi tein rivin leimattua - ihminen - sanoja - roosa.

Kaikista vaikein oli keksiä ruudukko.

Tein aika huomaamattoman ruudukon, itseasiassa tein niitä kaksi. Ensimmäinen on tehty valkoisella liitumaalilla. Liitumaali on mattapintaista ja erottuu kiiltävämmältä ja hieman sitä tummemmalta paperilta, mutta vain jos korttia kääntelee valossa. Siksi tein sitä tukemaan vielä mustien viivojen ruudukon. Joka sekin on kovin hento. Se oli tarkoituskin, sillä en halunnut paksun geometrisen kuvion 'varastavan showta' perhosilta.
Rivi oli ruudukko - pitsiä - revittyä - perhonen. Revitty on pohjassa käytetty luonnonpaperi. Phjassa on myös kirjasta leikattuja paperisuikaleita.
