We have winners!

The 12 ATC-cards of Christmas were voted unequally, for some there was only one vote, for others several and for some no votes at all. (Which means those are still up for grabs.)
There were people ho could not enter a comment on the blog but sent me a FB message instead.
The winners are:
   #2:  Tuisku V. (FB)                          #3:  Aralka

#4: Jaana H-V                                                        #5: maj.

#8: Siiri                                                                  #9:  Mina's kreative

# 10: Kia W.                                                          #11: Aino (FB)

If you didn't see your name and would like one - take a look at cards 1, 6, 7 and 12. If any of them speaks to you, please comment below and I will mail you your choice. Also if you'd like to change your win for any of those, that's possible as well. Just let me know.

Thank you for playing along - hope you had holidays to your liking! And let's make 2017 a great ATC year!!  If you'd like to swap with me, take a look under the header "available for swap" where you'll find my free cards of the moment along with my email address. Or suggest a themed private swap - I'd love to hear from you.

Tag it / Mitä tehdä tägeille- arvonta

You don't see much manila tags here. While they are cute, and a good format to work on, in the end I rarely know what to do with them. They are too large for my atc folder, I don't hang small things on my walls, and they don't suit as a gift tag either.
What do other people do with large tags?

Which means I have now made one and am wondering how to proceed from here ... got any ideas for me?

"Why don't you reply to my letters? They tell you everything that happens."

Tägin pohja on tehty uudella tekstuuripastalla, jota on vanhennettu parilla leimasinvärillä. Vanhensin samaten säkkikankaan palasen musteilla. Muut elementit onkin leikattu erilaisilta arkeilta, teksti on löydetty vanhasta kirjasta ja pojalla on aito kuparinen tähti rintapielessään.
Poika on matkalla, tosin zeppeliinin kyydissä. Osallistun tällä kuitenkin p*skikseen. Matka kuin matka?
* taustapapereita, Crafty Individualsin kuvia, sydän ja kruunu messinkielementtejä, kopioita omien kokoelmieni vanhoista valokuvista, säkkikangasta, pellavanarua, nauhoja ... Varmaan löydän vielä muutakin kun ryhdyn etsimään :-)

Manila tag was worked with texture paste and stencil. Then I distressed the background and edges, added a piece of burlap which I distressed as well. A piece of an old letter, some fussy-cut elements and a copper (real copper) star.
I am entering this into Steampunk challenge.
Thanks for looking!

great mail day

I want to share with you three wonderful pieces of mail!

First, the tree inchies from Joanne's August swap arrived. I was fully expecting eight separate inchies coming my way, but Joanne had gone to a lot of trouble and mounted everything on a appropriately stamped card. So pretty! Thank you Joanne! I am not going to tuck this into my file folder, but will hang it on the wall.
(Joanne is hosting another inchie swap this month - hop over here to join the fun!)

A thick padded envelope carrying RAK goodies arrived from Chris. Chris had a challenge on her blog to use her shared photos on a card. I am always up for a good challenge!

This package was brimming full of goodies - ribbons, buttons, foil and metal die-cuts, tiny safety pins and charms, stick-on alphabet, transparent tinted squares, even colored staples - how fancy! I was really delighted with the flowers, and already used one on yesterday's card. Chris, thank you so much!

And last, but certainly not least: Hermine's beautiful atc, as a thank you to join her birthday challenge. What a nice gesture!
The card is absolutely beautiful! I am mesmerized by the background. I love the strong color on it, and the idea of black lace as grass is somehow very soothing. Thank you Hermine!

goodies, frills and techniques

A few weeks ago I won some blog candy at Michelle's blog. OMG, I had no idea I would receive a package full of goodies. I was totally blown away, I just sat there on the floor and peeled the gift like an onion, layer by layer - take a look, too!

Papers - in elegant grey and white - Chinese paper money, slide folders, and Somerset Studios issue Artful Blogging. Now I know what the buzz is all about! This is such an eye-candy, plus really great reading. What you probably can't see, is a a rubber stamp alphabet from Green Pepper Press (Prague, nonetheless). And do you see the gorgeous card Michelle has made, all swirly and delicious! I never knew spray painting can look so beautiful. This is a lovely, generous gift. Thank you Michelle!

I met Michelle at ArtsyMama's tea party. After the party I have been hopping over and reading ArtsyMama's blog going backwards. I stumbled upon a hidden treasure that I am going to link here. (It is too bad she doesn't arrange her posts by month, you have to jump to the end of the list, where you get a new list, again to the end. This might make no sense until you do it.)

She has this great prompt how to challenge yourself out of your comfort zone and make a collage in the process. For those who don't wish to jump back and forth, I'll explain in brief.

You list all the different mediums and ways of working, then cut up the sheet of paper and put the pieces into a bowl. (A full list including some unusual techniques is on her blog.) Draw one piece. Do the technique prompted and draw the next. All in all she recommends ten.
Of course her collage looks just wonderful, and even better on the pages of the Somerset Studio magazine! Mine - not so much...
I had great time, though. This definitely pushed me out of my usual comfort zone. I would never ever have scraped, sanded, used charcoal or 3D if it hadn't been for those prompts.

This one is for DCM's Frilly bits challenge. I am not very frilly, and this is definitely the most frill there's going to be...

She looked on moodily. Not feeling like herself.

Second card got a lot of chalking, charcoal, ink and scrape commands. I am not sure I like it, it is somewhat dark and moody.

This one pushed me even more than the first. Left on my own I would never have done 10plus layers. (I kept hoping for stamp to come up, now that I own beautiful stamps, but it didn't.)

Not until the very last did I read this piece of instruction: have your color palette ready. Yes, that would have helped!

A delicious recollection
