I have been doing too much mixed media lately. How do I figure that? I have been missing my 'people'. Those vintage photos of long gone people all seem to have agendas of their own. They jump at me, they corner me and beg to have their stories told.

Simon says: Bake!

... No, not really, they only tell you to use x, y or z at Simon Monday Challenge Blog. (I chose y for yellow.) I have never entered before, I wonder if stamping is obligatory? Well, I'll be bound to find out.
So it's vanilla custard yellow for color as it pairs very well with my intended theme of baking.

I have had these bakery-themed photos for ages, received in a swap. On their own they are too large for the ATC format, so I decided to make it a triptych.

I am also entering this triptych into into The Mirror Crack1d 's May challenge.

Kesää kohti mennään ja leipomuksia peräänkuulutetaan TJK 21-22:ssä, onhan toukokuun loppu suurinta leipomiskautta kun on kaiken maailman valmistujaisia ja lopettajaisia. Mutta miksi tyytyä yhteen kakkuun, kun leipomossa voi tehdä niitä kymmeniä? Näin minä tuumin, ja rupesin hommiin.  Muinoin säästämäni pahvinen kakkulaatikko sai uutta käyttöä korttipohjina. Lisäsin kaikenlaista kivaa skräppiä erilaisista tarvikevaihdoista, maalailin hieman taustaa ja eritoten nuo kirjaimet. Ne olivat alunalkaen mustaa muovia. Ne saivat päälleen akryylimaalia ja vielä suojalakkaa.
Kortit ovat vapaina vaihtoon, mielellään menossa samaan kotiin. Olisi kiva vaihtaa toiseen triptyykkiin eli kolmen yhteenkuuluvan kortin sarjaan.

Paris

Oh Paris,  ye city of cities. No wonder then that Collage Obsession had Paris as a theme. What I remember from Paris was not the museums, the lovers, fashion, perfumes or whatever other famous things there are in Paris.
It is the light. In my remembrance the light had a certain pink cast (or nude in fashion color speak), impossible to capture.
Which didn't keep me from trying.

Paints, stamping, paper elements like Paris street map and a love letter, and of course the butterflies and the Eiffel tower.

Check your Vision

Steampunk Challenge by SanDee and Amelie asks to have your "Eyes Tested". Now that's an interesting theme! It made me think of eyesight, and perfect vision (20/20) and seeing double (I do, sometimes...)
Here's my entry. Identical twins can have that effect on you - are you seeing more than you ought to, or is it ok?

These pieces have seen some rough treatment. They have been sanded, treated with metallic and regular paints, crayons and pastels. They have been stamped and the numbers are image transfer.

Kaksoiskuvat tein Steampunk-haastetta varten, jonka aiheena oli silmät ja näkö. Näissä on käytetty helmiäismaalia, tavallista väriä, värikynää ja pastelliliitua, niitä on hangattu hiekkapaperilla ja ne on leimattu ja lopuksi vielä numerot siirtokuvina. Ne ovat vapaana vaihtoon, mielellään johonkin steampunkiin.

Happy Couples

Mix-it-Monthly has an interesting theme this month, Happy Couples. Apart from the obvious happy couples-couples I wanted to explore what other pairings there might be.

This started with the sinister idea of having the girls drown to meet their fate, but no, the girls refused to drown and instead met their mate...

Very few photos that I own show hands in motion, mostly hands are just idle, hanging beside the body, or folded up in lap.

Favorite Colors

ArtyGirlz challenge today is asking us to use our favorite color. Well, it is a challenge, as it happens. At least for me. I love full, rich color, but mostly my work is kind of pastel-ly. Can't explain why. (Maybe because a lot of ATC material comes in vintage sepia hues?)

Anyway, this is what I came up with. Bright reds and deep blues paired with some happy yellow.

Saturday Surprise: Numbers

Saturday Surprise's theme this week is numbers. My take on it:

Kuinka vanha olet, Leila?

tekniikasta:
Suihkutin vesiväripaperia kevyesti kultasuihkeella (Rayher). Sen jälkeen töpötin taustan kultaiset numerot sapluunan läpi kultageelillä (Pebeo Metal Touch, gold). Geeli on läpinäkyvän keltaista työstettäessä, mutta muuttuu kuivuessaan mukavan tummaksi.
Sen jälkeen leimasin taustan numerot Jim Holtzin Distress Inkillä (väri Fired Brick).
Leikkasin valokuvan (omista arkistoista), punasin hieman tytön poskia, ja koristelin hametta pastelliliiduilla.
Kirjoitus on siirtokuva Paperikeijulta saatavasta skräppilehtiöstä.
opuksi leikkasin kukat, leimasin ne ja reunasin ne punaisella.

Täytyy todeta, että monta työvaihetta tarvitaan näinkin yksinkertaiseen kuvaan!

Spring is in the Air

Nappikappa's 10-day challenge has come to an end. Last theme is Spring. Here is my take on it, a smart lady all dressed up in her spring coat and hat, ready for taking a walk.
