Everyday superhero

Tein kortin inspiraatioksi OKTK:n uusimpaan haasteeseen: Supersankari.

What would life be without dreams. And dreams without drive!
This slightly mad looking dude is standing in for all inventors, the unsung superheroes of our lives.

Dark matter

Taas on tullut inspiraatiuon aika. OKTK:n nro 30 inspiraatio on tällä kertaa tummanpuhuva.

I was heavily inspired by a color board and this is what I made. Deep red and black, messy with torn papers, metal chain, a cracked (lacquer) heart, keys and some words.

This could be interpreted as Love= blessing, love= fear, love = magic and love= everything. We fear it but we need it and when we have it we are truly lucky and blessed.

Love in Darkness

OKTK:n uuteen haasteeseen tehdyt inspiskortit.

A dark and mighty love song inspired me:

Night places a dark wreath onto your head so I would not see you

The forests are rising with the winds
The waters roll beneath the rocks
The rains cool off to stone.

Rusty screws for butterfly bodies, only held by some wire to keep it in place. Lovely background paper and some stamping with miscalleneous stamps from 7 Gypsies and Kaisercraft.

I see ...love?... in your future

I have always wondered what fortune tellers can see in your palm: a bright future, children, a trip over the ocean... those are the classics. And then there are the love lines.
This being the Valentine's month (not the day anymore but a full month!) I wanted to explore the love lines a bit more.
"I see a man in your future" - also a classic line.
But what could a palm reader say that we wouldn't expect? Here's my take on the subject:

"Don't play with love" , yet "Allow yourself a little flirt."

Background was made with Gelatos, inks, acrylics and includes stamping and stenciling.
The hearts are made with cardboard. First I stamped them, then dyed in with Distress ink 'Aged Mahogany', my new favorite, and lastly topped off with a dome of crackle. (This was a try-out, I wanted to see if it would work with inks, but apparently not. )
I still have more and they will make an appearance some day.

Red is a very difficult color to handle - at least for me it is - so I am extremely happy with Aged Mahogany as reds go, it is deep and mysterious and removes the sweet sting from a basic red.

Celebrate

Time is slipping by so fast, it's practically New Year. I'd like to wish you all the best. Hopefully you had a nice holiday and will enjoy the celebrations tonight!

It seems a bit incongruent to be making Christmas cards after the fact, but I have been catching up on card making. And these will be good for next year...
I urgently wish for snow. Here I created falling snow (stamp by October afternoon, stamped with white), then added glittering mica flakes on the bottom. The cheery birds are hopping around with their Santa hats on  ... well hello there!

Valoa ja varjoa / Light and shadows

I have just finished the book by Cecilia Ahern: Thanks for the memories. The prologue is rather dire - it's a grippling account of someone miscarrying and loosing lots of blood and debating whether to stay alive or just go. I portrayed four women in this journey between darkness and light. The words are from this prologue.
I haven't landed yet

Stop me from falling
Light fills my eyes
Only one is still reluctant:
There, not here.
