What's on my work desk today?

Join me and many others when they show their crafty desks, hosted by Julia of the Stamping Ground.
It's been a while since I participated - mainly because my desk has been such a mess.
I cleaned it to ship-shape back in May. It was lovely to work with less clutter, but slowly I have been slipping back to my old ways... Several projects going on at once, for example. If I get stuck with a set of atc's, I shove them back and work on something else.

Right now I am working on elaborate backgrounds for a challenge "Do something you have never done before".

These here are new on so many levels. Now my main concern is: can this be called patchwork?

Please, give me your honest opinion. I would value it very much!

WOYWW? #315: My desk is clean!

What I took home from last week's comments was to clean my desk, free it of clutter. This is my clean desk:

I also combined all my stashes. Now all stamps in one drawer (except for abc and numbers, they simply didn't fit!).
There is also now a drawer solely for colors. It houses ink pads, watercolors, inks, pencils and crayons.
I can't believe I didn't think of this before. Thanks everyone for great ideas!

I am working on my bird journal:

I showed the first page yesterday, a second one is in the works.

What's on My Desk / WOYWW? #314

I arrived from my trip and brought some new supplies with me.  There has been mail in my absence, some swap ATC's and materials for a bird journal that some of us are making this summer.
This new stuff is now in the center of the table; along the edges runs my usual mess of pens, water container, glue and ... stuff. I tried to make something, anything, last night, but I was totally overwhelmed by all the possibilities. On my trip I had to work with so little, and last week I could not work at all, so now this wealth of possibilities feels just too much. I hope I'll be in the loop soon...

I visited the beautiful city of...  can you guess? It has beautiful tiled floors at the uni which is one of the oldest in Europe (no, it's not Bologna). Horse-drawn carriages drive around the city (but it's not New York), it has wonderful pastry (but it's not Copenhagen), and a river flowing through (but it's not Paris)...
There are also plenty of interesting (latter-day) murals. This was taken on my way to the airport.
I find they provide good color inspiration. These red letters actually have pink dots in them, and the background is just the right shade of blue to make this look fresh.
